Cans instead of Cannes

A friend of mine from Spain told me about it and I wanted to know more...

O Festival de Cans (pronouced as Cannes but not to mistake with Cannes, althought this year Gritos en el pasillo is presented in both festivals) is a short-films festival created in Cans (a small village in Galicia, Spain... never been there, though!) 4 years ago. It´s celebrated the same dates as Cannes but the screening of the films, as well as the presentation of the awards, is in the church of the village. this year there are 19 shorts presented (7 of them, animated films). during the festival there are other activities such as music concerts from local groups or theatre, everything free, no-tuxedo required!

videoclips from new groups are shown too.

I think is a great alternative of Cannes, not the same thing but cool to have fun and discovered new directors.
